Safety and Compliance: Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations for highway structures. Collaboration: Work with architects, contractors, and other engineers to integrate structural designs into the overall highway project. Construction Oversight: Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards. Problem Solving: Address any structural issues that arise during construction or in existing structures. Documentation: Prepare reports, drawings, and specifications related to structural designs and construction. Skills and Qualifications: Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, design software (like AutoCAD and Civil 3D), and construction materials. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze structural behavior, calculate loads and stresses, and perform structural modeling. Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to identify and resolve structural issues effectively. Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with other professionals.
